For the next five minutes, it is my nineteenth birthday, special??? Ehh, not much.
I hate those in between ages that aren't special in a legal manner or "right of passage" way.
They just seem like a hurtle. I'm just looking for the next milestone rather than the bump in the road. The way to look at it? I've made it another year.
One regret though, didn't do all that much today. My morning started with me silently whispering to myself, "happy birthday, you are now old enough to buy cigarettes, which means nothing at all to you." Then off I went to my stylist's and got my hair done all pretty wavy like. Then bought some Mcmuffins for my mom and I, then sleeeept a long time. Woke up, contemplated the idea that "hey, maybe something will happen today with friends that will make today less depressing." Problem is I didn't plan shit. That is a Beth-Fail. Note to self; it's a two-way street. Only reason I didn't plan anything was that I didn't know what the hell I'd do!
But after dinner with my mom at a sushi joint that was slower than hell, I realized that I should just be happy I made it another year like my mom says. Just because nothing new happens the second you turn nineteen, you don't look different, you don't feel different, doesn't mean something or someone won't come into your life within the next year and completely turn it upside down in a fantastic way. I look at the past year and I've accomplished a lot.
3.4 GPA, Driver's License, College, First job. Not too shabby. I just have to live for the next day, and hope to god that the next two years go past quickly so I can be 21 :)
But ya that's my little bit 'o' wisdom for those out there turning 19 or who will turn 19. Just be thankful to be alive. Because hey, worst case scenario, the world actually DOES end in 2012. That's the cynical view point though :D SO in close, Happy Birthday to me.
